Toxins and your health

Do you suffer from low energy, a skin complaint or maybe menstrual problems like heavy periods, fibroids, endometriosis or PMS find out how chemical toxins maybe contributing and what you can do about it.

Today let’s talk toxin’s and before I go any further let’s understand what that even means, well it’s usually a substance from a plant or animal that can harm the human body.

Most people agree that toxins are something our body naturally eliminates and therefore needing to ‘detox’ is a myth.

Here’s a simple list of some of the ways you will be taking toxin’s into your body by breathing, ingesting or absorbing:

Tap water

Air – pollution

Food – pesticides

Plastic – coffee lid, microwave food in a plastic container, plastic bottle in the sun

Non stick cookware

Air fresheners and candles

Cleaning products

Skincare

Your skin is largest organ and you absorb quickly through your skin straight into your blood stream, this is how nicotine patches work.

Women use on average 12 skincare products a day, like shower gel, deodorant, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, foundation, blusher etc. Those 12 products contain an average of 168 chemicals like aluminium, phthalates, paraben’s and formaldehyde’s

Even more sadly, when a study was done on new born babies they found 287 toxins in their umbilical cords and 180 of those are known carcinogens.

So yes, of course your body naturally detoxes but can it detox 168 chemicals a day from your skincare alone PLUS everything else from the above mentioned list like pollution, food and cleaning products?

It’s our liver that does a lot of this detoxing work and it acts like a sieve, passing through your complete blood supply every 3 minutes. Signs of a sluggish liver may include watery eyes, sickness, headaches/migraines, fatigue, allergies, yellow skin or eyes and sensitivity to perfumes or other song odours.

This puts stress on the liver and it’s the liver that excretes used hormones like oestrogen’s. If this process is not working effectively you may notice symptoms like heavy periods, mood swings, fibroids, tender breasts, endometriosis, PMS, gallbladder and crying for no apparent reason. This can put you at a higher risk of developing oestrogenic cancers.

I believe that when you know better, you can do better. So bring an awareness awareness to the products you are using in and around your home for both you and your Children.

You might start by changing some of your skincare products to a more natural alternative. I’ve made a video about this in my facebook group, check it out here

Or you might want to eat more foods that naturally support the liver like lemon rind, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Include lots of fibre in your diet and you could look at supplementing with milk thistle.

I work with Women in a methodical way where we improve the diet, bring awareness to personal care products and gently detox the body over a 12 week period to restore energy, and reduce stress and overwhelm.

I teach a detailed training on what chemicals to avoid, what brands you can trust and how to make your own products all with the aim to reduce your toxic load in the areas of your life that you can control.
